OUR MISSIONIn an effort to increase the number of diverse children's and teen books written by African American authors, the Howard University Alumni Association has partnered with Butterfly Dreamz, Inc. to launch #BisonWrite. We use the stories of Howard University students and alumni to educate, empower, and fund the next generation of community leaders.
THE BOOK - FALL 2017In honor of Howard University's Sesquicentennial Anniversary, current Howard students are using the University's rich legacy to write an inspiring book of short stories for middle school students. In addition to the captivating stories written by our talented students, the young adult book will also feature Howard University alumni who contribute to #BisonWrite as Dream Investors. The book will be published in September 2017 and distributed to schools, education centers, and homes across the country.
SCHOLARSHIPSStudents whose stories are selected and published for #BisonWrite will receive scholarships ranging from $500 to $5,000. Additionally, proceeds from the book sales will be donated to our Howard University Alumni Association partners and used to support local scholarship initiatives.
